The Octopus

The large Asian market we go to always has weird food, from cow intestines to stink fruit, an today they were serving up some octopus balls for some sort of fund raiser. I was along time ago but I remember it well. They were balls of octopus with fried dough on the outside, like tempura but thicker. My parents bought a few, and without a thought i popped one into my mouth. It was crunchy and oily with a fishy taste, and chewy.The octopus balls were very chewy, and i hadn't thought to take small bites. I was 5 then and had just eaten the first of many strange, wacky, and wonderful foods I would eat.
